Using Effective Altruism, we are using evidence and reason in search of the best ways of doing good. One could see this as a collaboration between the brain and the heart, where the mind seeks to find the most needy target groups to help, and the heart puts our love for humanity into action to assist those who need it most.
We’ve looked at the scale of the outcome of our intentions as to prioritize and determine what actions would be beneficial for more people. Keeping our intentions in mind, we have applied kinesiology to determine that the majority of people, in all parts of the world, have a need for physical well-being and mental as well as spiritual guidance based on verifiable and truthful sources.
Since Equality is one of our major values, we believe that all people count equally. When trying to do as much good as possible, we aim to give everyone’s interest equal weight, no matter where they live. This also means that we’ll focus more on groups that need it most even though there are many ways to help people and we’re always considering the best ways to do so. Our programs aim to offer fundamental assistance in someone’s mental and spiritual well-being because this is the area in which stability is required first before someone can be supported in their further development.
Truth is one of two fundamental pillars upon which Satya Advaya is built and we advocate open truthseeking. This means that we put serious time and effort into deliberating our beliefs and are also curious for new evidence and arguments and if necessary, change our views.
Unity is the second fundamental pillar of Satya Advaya. Because it is possible to achieve so much more when working together, we aim to apply a collaborative spirit and high standards of honesty, friendliness and community perspective in all things that we do. Having a unified goal makes working towards a better world so much more effective.
Anyone who shares these values and is trying to find ways to help others is participating in effective altruism. This is true no matter how much time or money they want to give, or which issue they choose to focus on.
Effective altruism can be compared to the scientific method. Science is the use of evidence and reason in search of truth – even if the results are unintuitive or run counter to tradition. Effective altruism is the use of evidence and reason in search of the best ways of doing good.
The scientific method is based on simple ideas (e.g. that you should test your beliefs) but it leads to a radically different picture of the world (e.g. quantum mechanics). Likewise, effective altruism is based on simple ideas – that we should treat people equally and it’s better to help more people than fewer – but it leads to an unconventional and ever-evolving picture of doing good.
For these reasons, we’ve founded Satya Advaya to unite people with a common goal: To make this world a better place and to support humanitarian and spiritual development for all people regardless ethnicity, geography, cultural or social backgrounds.
There are many opportunities within our organization for people who wish to do good in this world and we strongly encourage people to apply to become part of our community.
Only together, can we improve the long-term future.
